partials

Hey all! Call me Fundoo, for now. I'm nearing 7 months into my journey of partial dreadlocks. "Crochet" method (yeah, not proud of what I did) but also started with t&r...and backcomb? Yeah, I REALLY didn't know what I was doing. Wow! Thought I didn't have questions, but I actually have a lot. Will add to this later.

first though, is there a quick way to see recent updates, or wait, is this the forum that writes "new" next to new posts? Also, is there a mobile version? (I will look again)

Ok, one dread question...can dreads be too hard? I think mine are, or definitely were, and they are also dry...so I tried some leavein conditioner today, per a suggestion from another knowledgeable dreadhead. What are your thoughts?

second, is it possible to ruin your dreads so that they will not grow out? Don't think I did, but they stopped shrinking like 3 monrhs ago but I can't notice any growth yet.

P.S. I started some new neglect partials 2.5 months ago and added wool rubbing about 1 month ago.oh yes, so thispprobably complicated things with my old partials.

anyone just have partials experience?!? Hehe...seems rare.

Ok, that's probably enough. Sorry if these things have been answered. In fact, some search brought me here, but I have already forgotten what it was. Lol.

k, thanks!

Re:

Firstly,welcome!
Yes,this forum writes ' new' next to new posts.
I would be careful with conditioner at this early stage as it can prevent knotting.
New growth will happen, just give it time. They could be shrinking at the same rate that they're growing yet.
Good luck love! X

Re: partials

Thank you! :) You called me Love? Listen, I know it's common over there, but with the day I am having, 'twas nice to hear it. :)

Anyway, back to dreads. Um, ok, I do know to be careful with the conditioner, and I only did it on the crocheted ones (they are really tight and knotty, so a little loosening is what I want) but I am careful not to get it near the new ones or even use too much....like weekly maybe, just until they start feeling softer, well one is doing fine enough with oils, but some are literally like a scouring pad! Yikes!

In terms of growing, well the heathier ones seem to be on track (showed some growth over the last week). It is just those dry and tight ones that have been stubborn, so that is why I wondered whether there might be a connection. But I can definitely wait longer. :)

Also some encouragement, some of the neglect ones are actually starting to feel like dreads. I have also learned to be careful with the wool, but just using it a little more on some stubborn areas.

Well, thanks again for the words and the welcome!
