Re: Legalization?
definitely..people should form a 'church of brotherhood' rather than extoll god, jesus and the saints and talk !@#$ on eachother. problem is, most people are very unlikeable

Re: Legalization?
marijuana for personal use should be legalized. caught smoking, have a zig in your possession, paraphernalia-- none of that should be illegal.
i think it's a matter of enforcement more than really changing laws. there shouldn't be people in jail for recreational use.
just a few points..

it is blunts giving you cancer, not the weed.
and marijuana crackdown was not because of hippies. like virtually ALL drug laws (i.e. opium and the chinese), marijuana was criminalized as an attack on minorities.. mostly aimed at Mexican migrant laborers and the black Jazz culture of the 1930s.
Mike Gravel is 100% correct when he said "the war on drugs is a war on poor minority communities".

Re:
the sanskrit name is ganjika, charas or bhang, connects one to shiva conscienceness. Bhang is used by religious people on every shivaratri (full moon and new moon)
Bangal as in bangaladesh means land of bhanga or cannabis.
the word cannabis derives from sanskrit 'khana'(to eat/smoke)
I have been in India/ Nepal for the last 5 years studying yoga, vedanta, and sanskrit, and living with sadhus.
"To the Hindu the hemp plant is holy. A guardian lives in the bhang leaf... To meet someone carrying bhang is a sure omen of success... To see in a dream the leaves, plant, or water of bhang is lucky; it brings the goddess of wealth into the dreamer's power... A longing for bhang foretells happiness... No good thing can come to the man who treads underfoot the holy bhang leaf.
"Yogis take deep draughts of bhang that they may center their thoughts on the Eternal... By help of bhang, ascetics pass days without food or drink.
